DESIGNED FOR

This virtual workshop is designed for individuals who want to learn how to be better allies and support marginalized community members, as well as learn practical bystander intervention strategies to interrupt harm and discrimination.

OVERVIEW AND BENEFITS

Cultures become more equitable and inclusive when community members take responsibility for intervening when harm occurs. This workshop explores concepts related to allyship and how participants can support those around them. This workshop presents allyship and bystander intervention frameworks to engage participants in thinking about how they can intervene in harmful situations. In addition to bystander intervention and upstander skills, participants generate ideas for how to institutionalize allyship behaviors for maximum impact.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Describe authentic allyship traits and practices through ally frameworks.
  • Explore responding to microaggressions as an ally.
  • Discover bystander intervention strategies to reduce harm.
