Overview:

DESIGNED FOR

Designed for medical educators, clinicians, and students interested in behavioral and social science foundations that support clinical work.

OVERVIEW AND BENEFITS

This report is designed to open a dialogue with medical educators, clinicians, and students about the nature of clinical work and the foundations in the sciences and methods of behavior and social science that support aspects of that work.

A learning outcomes template gives medical schools an outline to incorporate the concepts of the behavioral and science sciences in their curricula; the teaching methods section provides the means for incorporation. It includes:

  • An outcome-based model of competence development.
  • The CanMEDS and ACGME Core Competencies to illustrate that the “time based” model of learning is no longer adequate.

Contemporary insights into how best to prepare medical students to practice fully informed medicine.
